OUR PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Robert & Keba Guns Down Pens Up, Inc. organizes its work around 12 program areas addressing violence prevention, healing, literacy, wellness, leadership, family stability, and community support. Our youth prevention and mentoring services primarily serve young people ages 10–24, while our community services assist residents and families of all ages.

Current assistance includes community resource navigation, agency referrals, outreach, community events, and scheduled CPR/AED and basic life-saving education. Additional programming is provided through workshops, mentoring, events, partnerships, and community-based activities.

1. Youth Prevention, Mentoring & Peer Accountability

Mentoring, conflict prevention, positive decision-making, peer accountability, and trusted adult guidance for youth and young adults ages 10–24.

2. Power of the Pen Literacy & Creative Expression

Creative writing, journaling, literacy development, storytelling, youth publishing, and self-expression activities that help young people use their voices with confidence.

3. Brothers and Sisters Rising Youth Leadership

Leadership development, life skills, peer support, civic engagement, responsibility, and positive role-model connections for young people.

4. CPR/AED, First Aid & Wellness Education

Scheduled CPR/AED, first-aid, emergency-readiness, and basic life-saving education for youth, families, caregivers, and community members.

5. Keba Grazette Legacy Colon Cancer Awareness

Colon cancer prevention, early-screening awareness, wellness education, caregiver information, and connections to trusted health resources in honor of Keba Grazette.

6. Family Stabilization, Bereavement & Healing Circles

Grief support, healing-centered activities, family guidance, resource connections, and safe spaces for individuals and families affected by violence, illness, and loss.

7. Returning Citizens Reentry & Family Reintegration

Resource navigation, family reunification support, employment preparation, life skills, mentoring, and community connections for returning citizens.

8. Senior & Community Safety Outreach

Wellness education, safety information, resource connections, social engagement, and community outreach for seniors and caregivers.

9. Community Resource Navigation & Referral Assistance

Help locating housing, employment, benefits, youth services, disability resources, homeless services, wellness support, and other appropriate community agencies. Final eligibility decisions are made by the receiving agencies.

10. Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy & Workforce Readiness

Job-readiness preparation, résumé and interview support, financial education, entrepreneurship, business planning, branding, leadership, and career exploration.

11. Disability Inclusion & Access Support

Resource navigation, accessibility awareness, inclusive community participation, caregiver guidance, and connections to disability-related services.

12. Community Events, Recreation & Violence Prevention Engagement

Safe community events, sports, recreation, family activities, outreach, school-supply distributions, wellness information, and violence-prevention engagement. The Robert & Keba Legacy Field Day is part of this work.
